Living Room Wall Lights

Choosing living room wall lights

Wall lights are what a living room is usually missing. A ceiling fixture lights the floor and the tops of people’s heads; sconces light the walls, and a room with lit walls reads larger and warmer than the same room lit only from above.

Mount general wall lights 60 to 66 inches from the floor — about eye level standing. Flanking a fireplace, a sofa or artwork, keep the pair symmetrical and at the same height; unevenness is more noticeable on a wall than on a ceiling.

Put them on a separate switch from the ceiling light. That single change gives the room a second, softer setting for evenings without buying anything else.
